An apprentice bulge analyst has asked the editors here at the Bulge Lab why boys wear their dicks up in their Speedos. Boys themselves offer several reasons below, but the quick answer is probably that it feels right. Or left! Or should that be down?
Whether the wet suckable contents of a Speedo are hard or soft, they still have the same angular inclinations. A Speedo, like a helping hand, can align a dick with those inclinations, whether they’re up, down, or 38 degrees to the left (and accented by a gentle parabolic curve).
This all may have to do with how a dick angles its way out of a male body. “Genetics,” says the nylon-Speedo expert and bulge analyst at meninnylon.blogspot.com.
“As far as a tendency for a hard cock to lean one way or another, obviously in the suit, it would be held in place,” he says. “Without the suit, your cock is going to go in whatever direction your genes tell it to go.”
Exactly. And if a Speedo keeps it going in that direction when it’s soft, it’s going to feel natural.
“Regarding wearing your cock up,” he says, “it feels annoying to me. It also doesn’t really make a bulge when it’s pointing up and, worse-case scenario, people think you’re hard and that’s all you’ve got.”
His sort of swimming doesn’t involve today’s lycra, of course. His teammates had nylon Speedos. When in wetsuits and stuff I wear it down but when in Speedos to the side is definitely the best. If it’s in the up position when I get hard my head pokes right out the top. When it’s down, it outlines your whole dick. Whilst I’m not shy, I am highly aware of the type of people who have access to a public beach. For comfort and privateness to the side is perfect as if it gets hard you don’t notice and it’s really comfortable.

Down is more comfortable so I go with that even though up sometimes looks more sexy. But I do like the look of a nicely compressed package. Usually when somebody points it up you can make out their balls and their dick.

zzazzman ok, man, I was captain of the swim team at my school. take my advice: Sideways. If you put it down it will squish your balls between your legs. Running like that causes chaffing, a rubbing rash. I’ve done it. Don’t ask why. But sideways gives space to both your shaft and your balls. nick I always have my dick pointing upwards, maybe slightly to one side, in briefs, that’s how I find it most comfortable. It means there’s no great adjustment needed when erections come along.
dangerboy If you are wearing briefs or a Speedo, position your dick in the way that it usually is when erect while naked. Do not hold it down. If your erect dick points up, don’t use your undies to force it down. It won’t feel comfortable at all.

Da Silva I place my dick pointing sideways towards my hip when wearing a Speedo. It often pokes right out of my Speedo at the waistband if I point my penis straight up when I get a boner. My speedos are quite low rise. I guess it really depends on the size and length of your dick. I don’t like pointing it down when it’s soft because it gets really painful if I get an erection.
